You might probably feel like yelling at him or punishing him because he is standing between you and your dreams because you can t get any sleep due to his scratching and meowing.

The cat can scratch at the floor as much as it likes.
It can t damage your carpet so you can safely ignore it till the cat gets bored and gives up.
For scratching that takes place in front of an entryway cover the area with a thin mat.
A sisal scratching post may be a good choice here.
The main reason why your cat is busy clawing the carpet under your bedroom door is that he wants to get in to be with you.
Look around and see if you can find any spots in your house hidden inside the door the closet or similar to cut out and relocate a scrap that will fit if you can t find someone to just repair it for cheap.
You can also place a vinyl carpet runner upside down in front of the door since your cat won t enjoy stepping on the little plastic knobs that usually secure it into the carpet.
You can also put special plastic caps on your cat s claws.
So what do you do.
My recommendation is to take the cat to the groomer and get its nails trimmed.
Spray a natural cat deterrent spray on the lower four feet of each door frame you need to protect against scratching.
Some cats are horizontal scratchers instead of vertical ones they like pulling and yanking at carpet and stuff rather than say a couch or something if they don t have something appropriate.
If possible move a piece of furniture or a scratching post to your cat s favorite carpet spot.
He occasionaly still goes at the carpet or even the couch but since i keep his nails trimmed he has not done any damage.
Make sure you can close the door ok.
Cover up the spot where your cat scratches.
I think i ll probably do something similar to some cat damage in the house i own now and i ll do it myself.
That way he will have a much harder time tearing up the carpet.
Apparently you can buy big clear plastic sheets with studs on you lay it on the carpet so it goes under the door so when your cat scratches the by the door they just get the plastic i have yet to look at buying this stuff but it was a friends suggestions and she said it should be available at hardware stores.
