3 weed away the excess vinyl from your design.
Can you use iron on vinyl on glass cups.
I highly recommend this 6 by 7 easypress for this project.
It wasn t necessary during this part of the process.
Yes you can use heat transfer vinyl on glass.
1 as with any htv create your design and send it to your cutter.
It is permanent but does require some knowledge that i will go over below.
If you re not sure how durable your acrylic is do a little test.
You do need to be cautious when heating glass to make sure it doesn t break.
But which of the iron on products should you try.
Let s start off by talking a bit about what the different types of vinyl are.
Psst if you are brand new to crafting with vinyl be sure to check out my vinyl 101 page to find all of my vinyl resources for beginners.
This will help eliminate the carrier sheet press marks that can show up on glass we did not do this.
Today we re using glitter heat transfer vinyl.
I will say my favorite application method for the heat transfer vinyl on a mug was the mini iron.
Here are the steps for how to decorate mugs with iron on vinyl and a cricut step one.
Open cricut design space and click on new project.
Hopefully i can help you figure out which vinyl vinyl to use for whatever project you have in mind.
2 when using htv textured glitter make sure to cut your design in reverse mirror image.
Iron for about 30 seconds.
Normally with htv i use freezer paper to protect my iron from the plastic film.
This experiment is a perfect example of why you need a teflon sheet if the acrylic had melted the melting plastic wouldn t have ruined my iron.
This will open up the canvas area in designspace.
This test did work but depending on what you re ironing we have no guarantee that the htv will stick forever to the acrylic.
On fabric you only need to iron the htv for 12 15 seconds but glass needs much longer.
From this experience we suggest cutting around your design as close as you can.
You can use one of the larger ones but it takes a bit more effort.
Now if you are going to hand wash your mugs you can probably use either adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl and any of the application methods mentioned.
I have found it s a little easier to get it to adhere and it will hide any little flaws that might occur with your design.
