Can You Convert Vinyl Pool To Gunite

I currently have a in ground vinyl pool 14x32 about 6ft deep and about 14000 gallons.

Can you convert vinyl pool to gunite.

Before i spend 3k to get a new liner put in i want to see my options as far as converting to a fiberglass or concrete gunite pool. Gunite pool renovations are more expensive time consuming and messier than a vinyl renovation. Except the vinyl will be printed with photographs of tile or rocks instead of the real thing. Last but not least you can just change out the liner to give you another 10 to 15 years.

If you are converting a vinyl pool to a concrete pool for the purposes of developing a high end real estate property then paint is certainly not the finish you want in your pool. If just want to change your pool completely you have a couple of other options. Any color plaster rocks tiles paint etc. Surface is a wear item you need to replace it whether or not you have salt in your water a concrete pool will need to be resurfaced.

With this option you can shallow or deepen the pool. The biggest expense for a pool conversion from gunite to a vinyl liner pool is going to be the labor. Hire contractors that have experience making liners for pool conversions and contractors that can give you references for prior pool conversion jobs. If you could choose any interior surface and cost was not an issue then a properly installed all tile interior surface is the best pool coating that money can buy.

I live in fort worth tx. Yes you can but you would be replacing the liner every 3 4 years when you can build a gunite pool using the old pool as a base and get another 30 40 years of enjoyment out of it. Vinyl now offers the same selection. I am in need of a new liner pretty soon.

Gunite offers you a wide variety of interior finishes. At best 7 10 years is all that can be expected. Sorry if there is a thread on this already but i can t find one. So an inexpensive vinyl pool does look cheaper than a gunite pool but a nice vinyl pool can.
